Kaushambi
कौशांबी
Half a day is enough for the ruins and museum; combine with Prayagraj or Kanpur. Skip it if you have no interest in ancient Buddhist and Jain sites.
Kaushambi was the capital of the Vatsa Kingdom and a thriving Buddhist centre. Today it is a quiet archaeological site with a broken Ashoka pillar, monastery ruins and a small museum. Most visitors come from Prayagraj (about 1 h by road) for a few hours.
