Katesh
Skip as a destination: Katesh is a bus stop on the Arusha–Singida road. Use it only if you need to break the journey or climb Mount Hanang, which requires a guide and a full day.
Katesh is a small town in central Tanzania, best known as the gateway to Mount Hanang (one of the country's highest peaks at about 3,660 m). The town itself has limited services: one bank (no international card access), basic guesthouses and a daily bus from Arusha (4–6 hours). Most travellers pass through in a few hours; a Hanang climb adds one overnight.
