Skip Karawaci as a destination: it is a planned corporate suburb with malls and golf, not sights. Use it only as a bed base if you work or have family in Tangerang.
Karawaci (Lippo Karawaci) is a company new town built by the Lippo group west of Tangerang, inside the Greater Jakarta sprawl. Streets are clean and leafy, the housing is gated, and the draw for visitors is shopping, golf, cinemas and food courts rather than heritage. A large Korean community lives and works here. One night is enough unless you are visiting family, on business, or using it as a cheaper, quieter base for west Jakarta and Soekarno-Hatta airport.
