Kapparis
Kapparis is a 2–3 night beach base for families and couples: calm sea, wide sand, tavernas and water sports, 10 min from Protaras and 15 from Ayia Napa.
Kapparis is a coastal village east of Paralimni, known for its string of sandy beaches with shallow, clear water. It has no historic centre or nightlife strip — the draw is a relaxed beach holiday with a handful of tavernas, a water-sports centre and easy access to Protaras and Ayia Napa. Most visitors stay 2–3 nights and spend their days on the beach or doing day trips along the coast.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake and a smile; friends and family kiss on both cheeks; avoid: Being brisk — small talk first, business second
- Hospitality: Accept a coffee or a sweet when offered in a village; it is part of the visit; avoid: Refusing everything; one small taste is enough
- The Cyprus issue: Listen if people bring it up; many have family stories from 1974; avoid: Offering opinions on who is to blame
- Churches: Light a candle if you wish (small donation), keep voices low; avoid: Shorts, bare shoulders and flash photography
- Dress in town: Casual but covered; shirts on away from the beach; avoid: Swimwear in shops, villages and churches
- Time: Relax: meals and meetings run slower than in northern Europe; avoid: Rushing a waiter for the bill — ask for it when ready
- Naming: Use the English or local name of the side you are on; avoid: Using Greek names in the north or Turkish names in the south in a pointed way
Scams and watch-outs
- Many restaurants and shops close from November to March; check ahead in shoulder months.
- The sea can have occasional jellyfish in late summer; ask locals before swimming.
- No nightlife to speak of — if you want clubs, stay in Ayia Napa.
Kapparis is very safe; the main concern is road safety — narrow streets with no pavements in parts. Watch for jellyfish in late summer and always ask the price before hiring water-sports equipment.
