Kanchrapara
কাঁচরাপাড়া
Half a day is enough: walk the railway heritage, eat at a roadside stall, then move on to Barrackpore or Naihati.
Kanchrapara is a small railway town on the Hooghly River, 40 km north of Kolkata. Its main draw is the colonial-era Kanchrapara Railway Station and the quiet riverbank. Most travellers pass through on the Sealdah–Ranaghat line; half a day covers the station, a local lunch and a stroll by the water. The town has no major sights beyond that, so it works best as a short stop between Kolkata and the towns of North 24 Parganas.
