Kaduna is the capital of Kaduna State and the old political centre of northern Nigeria, with a colonial-era footbridge, the Arewa House museum and a rail junction on the Abuja–Kaduna line. Most sights sit along Ali Akilu Road and Independence Way, so a single full day covers the city. Travellers usually pass through on the way to Zaria, Kafanchan or Kano, and the honest reason to stop is the train and the history, not a beach or a nightlife strip.

Get around
The city spreads along a few main roads, so taxis and ride-hailing are the practical way to move; agree the fare before you get in. Keke (three-wheel) and motorcycle taxis cover short hops. Rigasa station, the Abuja train terminal, is well west of the centre and needs a taxi. Walking works only within a single district.
