Jubail
الجبيل
Half a day is enough to see the 4th-century church and the corniche; use Jubail as a stop between Dammam and the Al-Ahsa oasis, not a base.
Jubail is Saudi Arabia's largest industrial city, built around petrochemical plants and a deep-water port. Most travellers pass through on the way to Al-Ahsa or the northern Gulf coast. The main draw is the 4th-century Jubail Church, one of the oldest Christian sites in the Gulf, and a long corniche with views of the Gulf. The city has a handful of mid-range hotels and a few restaurants, but no major tourist infrastructure. One night is enough if you need to break a drive from Riyadh to the Eastern Province.
