Jokioinen
Go only if the museum railway is running (Sundays in summer): 1 night, or a half-day stop between Forssa and Humppila. Off-season, skip.
Jokioinen is a small Tavastia Proper municipality of about 5,000 people, built around a 16th-century estate that was split into more than a thousand small farms in the 20th century. Almost all visitors come for the narrow-gauge Jokioinen Museum Railway, which runs steam trains from Jokioinen via Minkiö to Humppila on summer Sundays. Outside that season there is a wooden church from 1631, a few free summer museums and manor gardens, and not much else to hold you for long.

Get around
The centre is small enough to walk. Buses from Forssa serve the town, and long-distance routes from Turku, Hämeenlinna, Lahti and Loimaa stop at the highway junction (Jokioinen th), which is a walk or taxi from the centre. For farms and Minkiö you need a car, bike or taxi (Taksi Häme, iTaksi; apps Valopilkku and 02 Taksi).
