Jinggangshan
井冈山
Two days: one for the revolutionary museums and Ciping town, one for the Longtan waterfalls and forest hikes. Skip if you have no interest in 20th-century Chinese history.
Jinggangshan is a mountain town in western Jiangxi, known as the cradle of the Chinese Communist Revolution. Most visitors come for the Jinggangshan Revolution Museum, the former residences of Mao Zedong and Zhu De in Ciping, and the Longtan waterfall cluster. The area is green and forested, with hiking trails and viewpoints. Two days cover the main sights; one day is enough if you only want the museum and a short walk.
