Jhalawar
झालावाड़
Half a day for Gagron Fort and Jhalrapatan's temples; one night if you want to see the Kolvi caves. Not a base — use Kota or Bundi for longer stays.
Jhalawar is a small town in Rajasthan's Kota Division, known for the UNESCO-listed Gagron Fort (a water fort on the confluence of two rivers) and the 11th-century temples in Jhalrapatan, 6 km south. The Kolvi Buddhist caves add a second day for archaeology fans. Most travellers pass through on the Jaipur–Indore highway or as a day trip from Kota.
