Jacareí
Skip Jacareí unless you work in its industrial zone or are a beer enthusiast: one hour is enough for the city park and a beer factory tour, then move on to São José dos Campos or São Paulo.
Jacareí is an industrial city in the Paraíba Valley, 80 km east of São Paulo. It calls itself the 'Capital of Beer' for its large breweries, but the city centre has few sights for a traveller. The Parque da Cidade is a pleasant green space; the main reason to stop is a factory tour or a football match. Most visitors use it as a pass-through on the BR-116 between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
