The Itajaí Valley is Santa Catarina's German-immigrant heartland, best known for Blumenau's Oktoberfest, half-timbered architecture and craft beer. The valley also holds Serra do Itajaí National Park for hiking, the coast at Balneário Camboriú and Bombinhas for beaches, and the fishing town of Itajaí. Sleep in Blumenau for the festival and culture, or in Balneário Camboriú for beach access; day-trip the rest.
