Isle of Palms is a small barrier island northeast of Charleston: about 11 km of Atlantic beach, one main road (Palm Blvd), and very little sightseeing beyond sand and water. It works as a family beach base with a car, not as a sightseeing stop. Two to three nights covers the beach, the marina and one Charleston day; a week suits renters who want slow mornings and golf-cart errands.

No public bus service on the island. A car is the practical default; the island is flat and bikable, and golf carts are common on local streets. Charleston is 25–30 min by car via SC-517 and US-17. Parking near Front Beach is limited and enforced — read the signs before you leave the car.
