Skip as a base: one night at the Seminole Inn or a lunch stop on FL-710 between Okeechobee and Stuart. No passenger train, no beach.
Indiantown is a small Martin County town of roughly 6,000 people on State Road 710, founded as a Seminole trading post and rebuilt in the 1920s as a planned railroad town. Amtrak stopped serving it in the early 1970s; a CSX yard remains. There is one hotel inside the town limits and almost no traffic. Come for a quiet night, a country meal and the canal toward Lake Okeechobee — not for a resort stay.

Get around
A car is the practical choice: Warfield Boulevard (FL-710) is the spine of the town and county roads loop the outskirts. Martin County's local bus, nicknamed the Marty, runs a route around Warfield with stops at the post office, library and Boys and Girls Club — useful for a car-free day, not for reaching the coast.
