Ikoma
生駒
Skip Ikoma unless you want a quiet hilltop amusement park and a 5th-century shrine: half a day from Nara or Osaka, then move on.
Ikoma is a small city at the foot of Mount Ikoma, 40 minutes from Osaka-Namba by Kintetsu train. Its main draws are the ancient Ikoma Shrine, the Hōzan-ji temple complex and a retro amusement park on the summit. Most travellers pass through en route to Nara or use it as a short side trip from Osaka or Kyoto.
