Ibadan is Nigeria's largest city by area and the old capital of the Yoruba south-west, about 3–4 hours from Lagos by road and roughly 2 hours by the Lagos–Ibadan rail line. Sights are spread out and low-key: a museum, a tower with a view, a university campus and a forest reserve. Most travellers pass through for a night, or use it as a base for Oyo State day trips.

Get around
Minibuses and shared cars cross the city for around ₦100–300; okada motorcycle taxis are cheap and everywhere but riders can be erratic. Distances are long and traffic is heavy, so group your day by area. Ride-hailing apps work in the centre; agree the fare before you get in a street taxi.
