Husum
Give Husum one full day and one night: Schloss, harbour and the crocus meadow if you are here in March. Two nights only if you want Schobüll beach and the Halligen.
Husum is the working town at the centre of the North Frisian coast: a small harbour, a castle, Theodor Storm's birthplace and a flat, windy hinterland of dikes and bird marshes. It is compact enough to walk in half a day, and it works as a base for Schobüll, the Halligen and Friedrichstadt. Come for one night, or two if the coast itself is the point.

Get around
The centre is walkable: station to Marktplatz about 10 min, Marktplatz to the harbour about 10 min. Buses cover Schobüll and the surrounding villages; a bike is the best way to reach the dikes and the beach. A car helps for the Halligen and Friedrichstadt.
