Huntington
Huntington, Oregon
Stop for 2–3 hours off I-84, not a night: a museum, one café and a state park. Sleep here only if you need a cheap bed on the drive.
Huntington is a town of about 500 people on the Snake River plain in Eastern Oregon, sitting where the Burnt River meets the Snake. It has one small museum, two places to eat and a state park with a beach 6 km west. Almost nobody comes here as a destination: it is a leg-stretch on I-84 between Baker City and Ontario, or a cheap bed if the bigger towns are full.
