Herning
Give Herning one night if you are here for a trade fair, a concert or MCH Arena; otherwise pass through — the art cluster is a half-day, not a trip.
Herning is a flat, modern West Jutland town of about 51,000 people that grew on textiles and now runs on trade fairs, sport and events. Almost nothing here is old; what is worth your time sits in one art cluster east of the centre and one arena district south of it. It works as a one-night stop on the Copenhagen–Struer line or as a base for Legoland at Billund, not as a stand-alone destination.

Get around
The centre is walkable end to end in about 20 minutes. Buses cover the Messecenter and arena district; taxis are the fallback for event nights. Trains run to Copenhagen, Aarhus and Struer, and there is a separate Messecenter station for the fairground.

- Karup airport has very few flights; most travellers arrive via Billund or by train.
- Museum and shop hours are short outside summer and many places close on Mondays: check before you go.
Herning is calm and safe by day and night; the real risks are event-night prices, dark cycle paths outside the centre and winter ice on pavements.
