Skip Hempstead Village as a destination: it is a commuter and government hub with one museum and a bus station. Use it only if you need the LIRR terminus or a bus connection.
Hempstead Village is the downtown core of the Town of Hempstead, an urban commercial and employment centre with a diverse population. It has one notable museum (the African American Museum of Nassau County) and functions mainly as a transport hub for the Long Island Rail Road and NICE buses.
