The honest verdict

Helsinki's sights sit within about two kilometres of the Central Station, so distance is not the problem; light and weather are. December gives around six hours of daylight, June barely gets dark, and wind on the harbour turns the Suomenlinna ferry into a cold ride outside summer. Trams reach everywhere. Four clusters cover a first visit, and Porvoo or Tallinn are day trips from one kept bed.
