Helensburgh sits at the southern edge of the Royal National Park, halfway between Sydney and Wollongong, ringed by bushland and the Illawarra escarpment. Get around
The town is walkable but hilly — the station to the shops is a steep 30-min walk. Local bus Route 15 links the station to the centre in about 15 min. A car is far easier for the zoo, temple and dam, which sit outside the centre.
