Hebron
Hebron, Ohio
Skip Hebron as a base unless you are here for Buckeye Lake or a Legends/hatchery event: it is a 35-minute I-70 run from Columbus, so sleep in Columbus and day-trip.
Hebron is a small Licking County town of about 2,300 people on I-70, 30–40 minutes east of Columbus and just north of Buckeye Lake. Almost nothing here is a destination in itself: the draw is the lake, the Museum at Buckeye Lake, the state fish hatchery open houses and the golf and motorsport events nearby. Treat it as a half-day stop or a cheap bed on the Columbus–Zanesville drive, not a trip.

Etiquette, safety and scams

- Restaurants: Tip 18–22% and wait for the check; avoid: Leaving without tipping
- Personal space: Keep an arm's length in queues; avoid: Standing close to strangers
- Politics and religion: Listen more than you speak; avoid: Opening with hot-button topics

Scams and watch-outs

- Lake-area seasonal businesses close or cut hours outside summer; check before you drive.
- Rural roads are dark and deer are common at dusk and after.
- Summer weekends around Buckeye Lake bring heavy traffic and boat-launch queues.
Low-crime small town; the real risks are driving (dark rural roads, deer, winter ice) and lake water safety. Standard US precautions apply.
