Harbor Springs
Half a day to one night: walk the downtown blocks, see the bluff view, then ski at Nub's Nob or Boyne Highlands in winter. Not a base for the Mackinac Area.
Harbor Springs is a small resort town on Little Traverse Bay, known for its bluff view, two ski resorts and a walkable downtown of a few blocks. Most visitors come for a meal and a look at the bay, or stay overnight to ski. It works as a short stop between Petoskey and the Tunnel of Trees (M-119).
