Hamilton is a small Ohio river city of about 63,000 people, halfway between Cincinnati and Dayton and about 25 miles from each. Its two real draws sit outside the centre: Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park and the reclaimed Fernald Preserve. Downtown is a compact grid of 19th-century buildings on the Great Miami River, walkable in an afternoon. Get around
A car is the practical choice: Pyramid Hill and Fernald are 5–15 min drives from downtown and there is no useful local rail. Downtown itself is flat and walkable in 20–30 min end to end. US 127 runs north–south through town and Ohio 129 links east to I-75 near West Chester.
