Gytheio
Γύθειο
One night is enough to see the harbour and eat well; add a second if you want to explore the Mani coast or relax on Mavrovouni beach.
Gytheio is a relaxed seaside town on the eastern edge of the Mani Peninsula, once the main port of ancient Sparta. Its pastel neoclassical houses, waterfront cafés and easy beaches make it a convenient base for exploring northern Mani without the crowds of other Peloponnese towns. Most visitors stay one or two nights.
