Skip as a base: Gyeongsan is a Daegu suburb. Use it for a half-day (Gatbawi hike, Nammaeji pond) or sleep here only if Daegu beds are full.
Gyeongsan sits 13 km east of Daegu and works as a satellite city, not a destination in its own right. Its draw is Palgongsan's Gatbawi stone Buddha, two ponds, a Silla-era temple and a campus-town food scene around Yeungnam University. Most travellers see it as a half-day from Daegu or a cheaper bed with Line 2 subway access into the city.
