Guyuan
固原
One day is enough to see the museum and the grottoes; use it as a stop between Xi'an and Yinchuan, not a base.
Guyuan is a small city in southern Ningxia on the ancient Silk Road. Its main draw is the Xumi Mountain Grottoes and the Guyuan Museum, which together fill a day. Most travellers pass through on the way between Xi'an and Yinchuan.
