Gurugram (Gurgaon) is a satellite city of Delhi and the country's IT and mall hub, with more shopping malls per square mile than anywhere else in India. It sits just across the border from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport, so it works as a business base or a stopover, not as a sightseeing destination. The infrastructure is patchy, traffic jams are routine and winter smog matches Delhi's.

Get around
The Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro serves the northeast of the city (IFFCO Chowk, MG Road) and runs to Delhi in about 50 minutes. The Rapid Metro links Sikanderpur with Cyber City and Golf Course Road, with trains every few minutes. Cycle rickshaws and shared yellow-plate cars cover short hops; Uber and Ola are plentiful and usually cheaper than street taxis. Traffic on NH 48 is heavy at peak hours and floods in monsoon rain.

- Greeting: Namaste (palms together) or a handshake between men; wait for a woman to offer her hand; avoid: Hugging or kissing strangers
- Hands and feet: Give and eat with the right hand; apologise if your foot touches someone; avoid: Pointing feet at people or shrines; touching books or food with your feet

- Winter smog matches Delhi's; check air quality before outdoor plans.
- NH 48 water-logs in heavy monsoon rain, which can stall the Delhi–Gurugram drive.
Gurugram is generally safe for visitors by day, but women should avoid isolated stretches after dark and use app-based cabs rather than unmarked taxis. The real risks are traffic, heat, smog and overpriced rickshaws.
