Gundagai is a small Murrumbidgee River town 390 km south-west of Sydney, built on the Hume Highway halfway between Sydney and Melbourne. Get around
No public transport. Drive or walk: the main strip has ample parking and the town centre is compact. South Gundagai is a few kilometres across the Murrumbidgee flood plain from North Gundagai, so if you sleep at a southern motel, count on a long walk or a drive to reach the shops.
