Guaramiranga
A weekend or one-night escape from Fortaleza for cooler air, waterfalls and the Jazz & Blues festival; not a base for exploring Ceará.
Guaramiranga sits at 900 m in the Baturité massif, 100 km southwest of Fortaleza. Its main draw is the climate: 5–10 °C cooler than the coast, with lush hills, short trails and a few waterfalls. The town itself is small and walkable, but most sights and restaurants outside the centre need a car. One night covers the essentials; two if you hike Pico Alto or attend the Jazz & Blues festival (carnival week).
