Grand Forks
Stop for one night on the Crowsnest Highway, not a destination: the compact downtown, two museums and a Doukhobor history are a half-day.
Grand Forks is a town of about 4,000 in the West Kootenays, on Highway 3 near the Washington border. It is a food, fuel and bed stop between Osoyoos and Castlegar, with a walkable core, a Doukhobor heritage museum and the Kettle River. Most travellers pass through; one night is enough, two if you want the river and the back roads.
