Gniezno
Go for one night, or as a half-day stop from Poznań: the cathedral and the Bronze Door take 2–3 h, and the town centre is a 6–8 min walk from the station.
Gniezno is the first capital of Poland and the seat of its first archbishopric, 50 km from Poznań. The draw is one building: the Assumption and St. Adalbert's Cathedral on Wzgórze Lecha, with the Romanesque bronze door from about 1170 and the relics of St. Adalbert. Everything else in the centre is small and walkable, so most travellers see it in a few hours and sleep in Poznań.
