Give Gimcheon one night only if you are breaking the Seoul–Busan line; otherwise skip it — Jikjisa Temple is the one sight worth the detour.
Gimcheon is a mid-sized North Gyeongsang city on the KTX Gyeongbu line, about 1 h 30 min from Seoul and 1 h 20 min from Busan. Its draw is Jikjisa Temple, one of Korea's oldest Buddhist sites, plus a handful of small museums and a lotus pond. Most travellers pass through on the train; a single night covers the temple and the old downtown.

Get around
City buses are cheap but infrequent; taxis are easy to find at both stations and the bus terminal and are the realistic option for Jikjisa and Buhang Dam. A car is the most convenient way to reach sights outside the centre.
