The northern plains are Ghana's savannah belt: baobabs, round mud-walled compounds and villages that grew along the old trade route to Burkina Faso. The one sight named in the sources is the Bongo Moon-style rock landscape, where a large rock balanced on three small ones rings when struck. Everything else — Mole's walking safaris, the Sirigu painted houses, the weavers — is the usual reason travellers go north, but treat the specifics as check. Distances are long and roads are slow, so this is not a quick add-on to a southern trip.
