Geyzing
Gyalshing
Give Geyzing half a day: Pemayangtse Monastery (6 km, 30 min by taxi) plus the market, then sleep in Pelling 30 min away.
Geyzing, also written Gyalshing, is the small capital of West Sikkim at about 1,900 m, with a population near 900 and Nepali as the everyday language. Its one headline sight, Pemayangtse Monastery, sits 6 km out on the Pelling road, so most travellers use the town as a bus and jeep junction and sleep in Pelling instead.
