Gananoque
Stay 1 night, 2 if you want a full river day: boat cruise plus the parkway. Base downtown on King St; you can walk everything.
Gananoque is a town of about 5,400 on the St. Lawrence, the main dock for Thousand Islands cruises and the west end of the 1000 Islands Parkway. It is small, walkable and best used as a one- or two-night stop between Kingston and Brockville rather than a destination in itself.

No local transit. Downtown King St is compact and walkable; the town spreads along Hwy 2 and the waterfront, so a car or bike helps for the hotel strip and the 1000 Islands Parkway trails. Local taxis run from A-One Taxi and Gananoque Taxi.
