Fürth
Base in Nuremberg and give Fürth one half-day on the U1: old town, Gustavstraße, Jewish Museum. Sleep here only if Nuremberg prices spike.
Fürth sits 10 minutes by U1 from central Nuremberg and is the older of the two cities, first recorded in 1007. It was bombed far less in World War II, so the Altstadt keeps a near-complete run of Historism and Art Nouveau streets. It is a half-day or one-night add-on, not a base: sights are few and the food and beer are the real draw.
