Fulda
Give Fulda one full day and one night: the baroque quarter, cathedral and St Michael's sit close together in the old centre, and it is about 1 h from Frankfurt by train.
Fulda is a compact baroque town on Germany's main north-south rail line, about an hour from Frankfurt and 30 minutes from Kassel by ICE. The old centre is small enough to walk in half a day, so most travellers use it as a one-night stop between Frankfurt and Kassel, or as a base for the Rhön hills and Schloss Fasanerie.

Get around
Walk. The station to the cathedral is about 15 minutes on foot; take the lower level exit and head straight into town. City buses and taxis leave from outside the upper level of the station. Buy bus tickets from the machine at the Hauptbahnhof.
