Fredensborg
One night, or a half-day stop between Hillerød and Helsingør: the palace park is generally open to the public, but check current garden access and any charges; the palace interior only in July.
Fredensborg is a small town in North Zealand built around a royal palace the family still uses. The park is open all year and free; the palace interior is shown on guided tours in July only. Most travellers see it as a 2–3 hour stop on the Hillerød–Helsingør line, or sleep one night to break the castle run.
