Fort Frances is a town of about 7,700 on the Rainy River, directly across the border bridge from International Falls, Minnesota. It is the first European settlement west of Lake Superior and still a fishing and lake town. Sights are few and close together; the reason to stop is Rainy Lake, the museum cluster and the road position between Kenora and Thunder Bay.
