Florence city pass: is it worth it?

There is no single Florence pass. Two products cover most of what visitors want, and they do not overlap: the state-museum pass (Uffizi, Accademia, Pitti, Bargello and others) and the Duomo complex ticket (cathedral, dome, bell tower, baptistery, museum). Decide which of the two lists you are actually going to work through, then buy that one.

If your list is Uffizi plus Accademia plus one more state museum, the pass usually wins once you add the booking fees you would pay per ticket. If your list is the Duomo dome plus a wander, skip the pass and buy the Duomo ticket alone.

State museums in Florence generally open Tuesday to Sunday, roughly 08:15–18:30, with last entry about an hour before closing; many close Mondays. The Uffizi and Accademia run timed-entry slots, and a pass does not remove the need to book one — it only removes the per-ticket fee.

The Duomo complex keeps different hours: the cathedral has short visiting windows, the dome climb is timed and sells out days ahead in high season, and the baptistery and museum follow their own schedule. Sunday mornings the cathedral is closed to visitors for services.

Free-entry days at state museums fall on the first Sunday of the month; they are free but very busy, so a pass is pointless on those days.

The covered sites sit in the walkable centre: Uffizi and the Duomo are about 5 minutes apart on foot, the Accademia is roughly 10 minutes north, and Pitti Palace is about 15 minutes across the river via Ponte Vecchio. You do not need transport between them.

Florence's main station, Santa Maria Novella, is about 15–20 minutes on foot from the Duomo and is the arrival point for high-speed trains from Rome and Venice. Local buses and the tram run from the station area; see the transport page for tickets and routes.
