Flin Flon
Go for one full day if you are already on Highway 10 or the Hanson Lake Road: Flinty's Boardwalk, the stack and the above-ground sewers. Do not fly in for it alone.
Flin Flon is a mining town of about 5,100 people on the Manitoba–Saskatchewan border, built on bare rock around a 250 m smokestack. It is a stop on a northern road trip, not a destination in itself: one night and one day covers the boardwalk, the lookouts and the town's odd above-ground sewer lines. Access is by Highway 10 from Manitoba, Highway 167 from Creighton, or a small regional airport 20 km southeast.

Get around
One town bus loops from the Community Hall to the mall and back on weekdays, with a shorter Saturday run; fare is a few dollars. Otherwise you need a car or a taxi — the airport, Bakers Narrows and the lakes are all outside walking range.
