Get around
The centre is small enough to walk: the train station, bus station and old town sit within a few hundred metres of each other. Local buses 14 and 16 (Proximo) loop the city, the airport and Praia de Faro; buy from the driver. Bolt and Uber cover the town. Trains along the Algarve line reach Olhão, Fuseta and Tavira to the east and Lagos to the west; Vamus Algarve buses serve the rest of the region.

Scams and watch-outs
- Parking in the centre is scarce and mostly paid; free lots sit by the bus station and behind the old town toward Olhão.
- Many island ferries and seasonal restaurants shut or thin out from November to spring: check timetables before planning a beach day.
- Some small Algarvian restaurants are cash-only: ask before ordering.
- Summer heat and lagoon mosquitoes; the beach at Praia de Faro shelves steeply in places.
