The southern, Republic-controlled part of Famagusta district is the island's beach strip: Ayia Napa for nightlife and a harbour, Protaras for family sand, Paralimni as the year-round town behind them, and Cape Greco as the protected headland between. Everything sits within about 20 minutes of everything else, so pick one base and drive. The north of the district (Famagusta old town, Salamis, the Karpas) is across the Green Line and is a separate trip.
