Fakenham is a small market town on the River Wensum, 23 miles from King's Lynn and 13 from Holt, with no railway station. It works as a cheap, quiet base for north Norfolk if you drive, or as a half-day stop between King's Lynn and Cromer. The town itself is walkable in an hour; the draw is the surrounding coast, the racecourse and Pensthorpe.

Get around
The town is small enough to walk; everything in the centre is within 15 minutes on foot. There is no railway station. Buses run to King's Lynn and Norwich (Stagecoach X29), Cromer (Sanders 9) and Dereham (konectbus 21), but services are infrequent and stop early. A car is the practical way to reach the coast, Pensthorpe and Houghton Hall.
