Fairview is a farm-services town of about 3,000 in Alberta's Peace Country, halfway between Grande Prairie and Peace River on Highway 2. Its one real sight, Historic Dunvegan, sits 26 km south on the Peace River. Most travellers use it as a bed between the two bigger towns, or as a base for the Dunvegan campground and the ski hill.

Get around
Downtown is walkable in 15–20 minutes end to end. Everything else — Dunvegan, Cummings Lake, the ski hill — needs a car; there is no local transit and no taxi habit worth relying on. Highway 2 runs through town, with Grande Prairie about 1 h 30 min south and Peace River about 1 h east via Grimshaw.
