Eulo
Stop for one night if you are driving the Cunnamulla–Thargomindah road; skip it as a destination on its own.
Eulo is a one-pub town of about 95 people on the Paroo River in south-west Queensland, 60 km west of Cunnamulla on the sealed Adventure Way. There is one place to sleep, one pub for dinner, a date farm, mud springs and the Paroo. It works as a break in a long drive, not as a base.

Etiquette, safety and scams
Etiquette
- Greeting: Handshake or 'G'day' / 'How are you going?'; first names from the start; avoid: Formal titles; long answers to 'how are you'
- Rounds: Buy your round ('shout') when drinking in a group; avoid: Leaving before your shout
- Queues: Queue patiently; sitting in the front seat of a taxi when alone is common; avoid: Pushing in — it is noticed
- Country: Listen to Welcomes and Acknowledgements; use local place names when offered; avoid: Touching artefacts or photographing ceremonies without permission
- Beach: Swim between the flags; respect lifesavers' instructions; avoid: Swimming at unpatrolled beaches alone
- Humour: Expect teasing and understatement; laugh along; avoid: Taking dry sarcasm literally or boasting
- Walking and driving: Keep left on footpaths and escalators; wave thanks to drivers who let you in; avoid: Stopping on the road to photograph kangaroos
Scams and watch-outs
- No Optus or Vodafone mobile reception; free Wi-Fi at the Eulo Queen Hotel.
- Fuel and food options are limited: fill up in Cunnamulla or Thargomindah.
- Summer heat is dangerous; carry water and do not walk far in the middle of the day.
- Road trains use the Adventure Way: give them the full road.
Very low crime; the real risks are heat, distance and no phone signal. Tell someone your route and carry more water than you think you need.
