Eti-Osa
Base in Eti-Osa for 2–3 nights if you want Victoria Island, Lekki and the beaches; skip it if you want old-Lagos markets and low prices.
Eti-Osa is the Lagos local government area that holds Victoria Island, Ikoyi, Lekki Phase 1 and the Lekki-Epe corridor out to Ajah. It is the business-and-beach half of Lagos: offices, malls, galleries, private beaches and the reclaimed Eko Atlantic district. Most visitors sleep here and cross to Lagos Island for markets and history. Two to three nights covers the beaches, one gallery and one park; add a night if you want a Lekki beach day without rushing the toll road.

Get around
No metro and no motorbike taxis (banned on most Lagos roads). Use Uber or Bolt for point-to-point trips, or the yellow minibuses (danfo) on the Lekki-Epe expressway for short hops. The Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge toll and the Lekki toll gate both cost money and time; check current tolls. Lagferry runs jetties in the wider metropolis, not a direct VI–Ajah shuttle. Walking works inside VI, Ikoyi and Lekki Phase 1; between them you ride.

Scams and watch-outs
- Traffic on the Lekki-Epe expressway and at Ilaje Junction is worst on weekday evenings; build 30–60 min of slack into any airport run.
- Heavy rain floods parts of the Lekki corridor and the Lekki Art Market area — avoid low-clearance cars in the wet season.
- Private beaches charge entry (Elegushi about ₦2,000 general estate entry; Sol Beach inside it was an extra ₦8,000 midweek — check current prices).
- Ask the total before you sit down in bars with no posted prices.
- Carry small naira notes; card and transfer payments are common but not universal in markets and on buses.
Eti-Osa is one of the calmer, better-policed parts of Lagos, but it is still Lagos: use ride-hailing after dark, keep phones out of sight in traffic, and check your government's current advice for Lagos State before you book.
