Edson
Stop for one night on the Edmonton–Jasper drive, or skip: the museum and spray park fill an afternoon, not a trip.
Edson is a resource town of about 8,400 people on Highway 16, roughly halfway between Edmonton (192 km east) and Jasper. It has no scheduled flights and no local transit, so it works as a car-based overnight stop, a rail flag stop on The Canadian, or a fuel-and-food break on the drive west. Two provincial parks sit just west of town.
